Gently nestled in the hills of Chianti Classico, the Antinori winery almost eludes the eye. No monument, no grand gestures – just a natural presence conceived from within the landscape. Two horizontal lines cut through the slope, barely visible yet strikingly effective. Architecture as a quiet gesture, not a statement. The result of seven years of planning, the winery combines state-of-the-art technology with a deep connection to the earth. Terracotta, wood, and Corten steel echo the colors of the soil, while the building itself disappears beneath the vines – a place that preserves more than it demands. Sustainability here is not an afterthought, but a fundamental principle.
Even in the cellar, everything follows the logic of nature. Winemaking is carried out entirely by gravity: grapes, must, and wine move through the various stages without the use of pumps. The result is evident in the glass – precise, elegant, with a supple structure and remarkable balance. Aging takes place in underground chambers, their temperature regulated solely by the earth itself. A centuries-old principle, reinterpreted.
Approximately 4.6 hectares of vineyards surround the estate, planted primarily with Sangiovese. Some vines even grow on the roof – a symbolic and tangible union of architecture and terroir. This is where characterful wines such as Pèppoli, Villa Antinori Riserva, and the rare Vigna sul Tetto are crafted, each embodying the essence of this place.
